Common House

Our gorgeous post and beam styled 3500 square foot Common House hosts a wide range of activities in all seasons. Two well appointed guest rooms with a shared bathroom are booked as an extension of our homes many nights of the year. Three washer/dryer combinations are used by about half the households (the rest choose to have these appliances in their own homes). The children's playroom is a welcoming space in the heat of summer (yes, we have air conditioning with the air source heat pump!) and the rain of winter.

The Common House has a large kitchen and dining area. We have cook teams that make wonderful meals that people can sign up for, usually once a week. Potlucks also happen weekly. Members use the large kitchen for canning and other kitchen jobs that are so much easier with lots of room and a sanitizer. Some members teach occasional food preparation classes as part of their work.

The dining room has a fireplace surrounded by comfortable couches. Smaller meetings often happen there. That large area also hosts regular house concerts. Musicians enjoy the lovely space and good acoustics.

The large meeting/activity room is used for our monthly council meetings, film nights, presentations, movement classes, dances, and members sometimes host group meetings from our wider Comox Valley organizations they are part of.

The quiet lounge area is used for smaller meetings and gatherings or sometimes as a workspace.

Community activities like council meetings, team meetings, meals and potlucks and parties of all sorts take precedence in our schedule. Activities that members would like to book happen at other times. It's a busy place, much appreciated by us and by those from the wider community that attend events here.
